The client asked Stuart Mills to produce a low cost supercar that was to be sold in kit form. He required a mid engine configuration with a V6 power plant and a three seat layout with the driver in the centre position. To create this vehicle we chose a 3 litre V6 Ford engine, normally used in a front wheel drive configuration. We developed a lightweight space frame chassis and mounted the engine and transmission transversely just ahead of the rear axle line. We developed bespoke suspension components, including front and rear uprights, wishbones, and steering rack. The unusual styling was the result of many cad renderings and resulted in the final buggy like sports car. In addition to making the pattern and moulds for the bodywork we made a sliding hard top with runners along the straight edges at elbow level. The windscreen used was from a production car. Performance was staggering as the 220 hp engine had only 700 kg’s to propel!
