OR CAGED CAR
Motoring minimalism at its maximum. This vehicle was designed as a product for Stuart Mills’ sister company Mills Extreme Vehicles Ltd. Over 80 were sold in the first two years of production prior to the project being sold on to further its success. It is sold mainly in kit form and uses the ubiquitous Ford Focus as a donor car. The styling is aggressive. The occupants have no creature comforts, no sides, no roof, no screen, no heater. What they do have is staggering performance due to the vehicle weighing in at only half a ton.
The chassis was designed by Stuart Mills and tested by independent structural engineers, and the rear suspension components were developed specifically for this application, and in one case, upgraded to withstand 300 ft lbs of torque from a supercharged 280 bhp engine. There is now a thriving owners group known as MOG (MEV Owners Group) and gatherings are growing at kit car shows as more and more cars are put on the road. No doubt other kit car companies will follow this trend in the future, or maybe they will stick with 60’s replicas as their product range.
